The opposite of this trope is that Apple uses are "sheeple". However, I have seen a lot of coverage about how Android users simply won't pay for apps whereas Apple users do. This perspective probably adds to the "poor" vs. "rich" stereotype. Diversity and choice is a good thing but I'd hate to be an app developer trying to make money on Android due to the sheer number of good / bad / slow / crappy devices and the multitude of forks off the Android OS.

The so-called "walled garden" of Apple is more profitable for developers.
